Dr. Akanksha Kulshreshtha, MBA, MD, FRCSC (OBGYN/REI)
Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Specialist (REI)
Dr. Akanksha Kulshreshtha is a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility specialist who is dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized fertility care. She completed her undergraduate studies in Health Sciences at McMaster University, followed by medical school and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Gynaecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto.
Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Kulshreshtha earned her MBA from McMaster University and pursued her CA/CPA designation while working as a Senior Associate in the Audit and Assurance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers. This unique background allows her to bring a thoughtful, systems-based approach to medicine, with a strong appreciation for transparency, ethics, and sustainability in healthcare. She currently serves as a Board Director for Ontario Medical Association Insurance, contributing strategic and financial oversight through her expertise in financial statement analysis.
Dr. Kulshreshtha has a strong interest in research and innovation in reproductive medicine, with a focus on recurrent early pregnancy loss, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and the uterine microbiome. She has received several research honours, including the Knox Ritchie Research Award from Mount Sinai Hospital and a Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society Training Grant. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, and she has presented at local and national conferences, including the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society Annual Meeting and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Scientific Congress.
Education and advocacy are central to Dr. Kulshreshtha’s work. She enjoys helping patients and medical colleagues understand fertility testing and treatment options, including the appropriate use of tests such as Anti-Müllerian Hormone. As a part-time Clinical Faculty member at Toronto Metropolitan University, she currently teaches the inaugural class of medical students and is actively involved in training the next generation of compassionate physicians. She is also deeply committed to women’s health advocacy, with a particular emphasis on the South Asian community. Her efforts are directed toward improving knowledge about women’s health, reducing health disparities and fostering empowerment among women within this population.
In her clinical practice, Dr. Kulshreshtha provides comprehensive fertility care, with a particular focus on functional medicine and PCOS. She is deeply committed to patient-centred care and values collaboration with patients as they navigate complex and often challenging fertility journeys. She believes fertility treatment should be individualized, taking into account biological factors, personal beliefs, and financial considerations—an approach grounded in the principles of personalized medicine.
Dr. Kulshreshtha is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada. She is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi.
