Director of Development and Advancement

Dr. Hananel Holzer has held many prestigious leadership positions in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, including Medical Director of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Reproductive Centre, and Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division of McGill University in Montreal. He also served as the Director of the R.E.I. and I.V.F. Departments, and the Associate Director of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the Hadassah Medical Organization in Israel. He is also involved in developing fertility-related projects around the world, mainly in Central Europe.

Dr. Holzer graduated from the Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical School as Class Valedictorian in 1992, and completed his Ob. Gyn. Residency at Hadassah as well as a two-year REI Fellowship Program at McGill University in Montreal where he was later recruited as a staff member. Dr. Holzer has served as a member of many professional committees, including provincial ART advisory committees in both Quebec and Ontario.

Dr. Holzer holds an Adjunct Professor appointment in the McGill University Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Montreal. He is the author of over a hundred publications in the field of infertility, a member of editorial boards of several medical journals and is a highly regarded invited speaker around the world. His main interests are fertility preservation for cancer patients, age-related fertility decline and a comprehensive team approach to infertility-related issues.

Dr. Holzer compares fertility treatments to a roller coaster journey: he understands that patients’ emotions can plunge from extreme highs to deep lows and that the mental stress associated with fertility treatments can significantly impact their quality of life and well-being. However, Dr. Holzer believes that the role of the care team can greatly help to reduce this stress: “the team must be attentive, understanding, sensitive and approachable. It is our duty to provide sophisticated technologies as well as medical expertise. And, when the treatment is successful, we are delighted to share in the joy and happiness.”
