Nurse Practitioner

Lisa Cuss is a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner with 28-years-experience providing high quality health care services to patients with a diverse range of medical conditions including women’s health care, obstetrical care and transgender care.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, with first class standing, from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay Ontario in 1996. After graduation, she specialized in high-risk obstetrics in Canadian and US hospitals. From 2001 to 2005, Lisa worked as a Public Health Nurse for the City of Hamilton’s Vaccine programs and Sexual Health Programs. During this time, she was the lead RN for the Hamilton Mountain Sexual Health Clinic where she provided sexual health education, including testing and appropriate medication administration.

In 2006, Lisa completed her Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner certificate at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and soon after, began working at a Hamilton-based Family Health Team providing health care for all age groups and medical conditions, with expertise and a strong focus on prenatal care and women’s health care across the lifespan. She is also a Nurse Practitioner Preceptor, preparing, training and supporting Nurse Practitioner students, and is committed to continuing medical education initiatives that focus on women’s health issues.

Lisa delivers compassionate, patient-centred care and education with a focus on evidence-based practice. She has had an interest in fertility medicine as an extension of women’s health for many years. Earlier in her career, she travelled to Ghana as a Medical Volunteer, assessing and treating patients at community outreach clinics and assisting the physician at the local hospital. She was team trainer for the Oakville Minor Hockey Association which focused on injury prevention and management.
